News media editorial boards have great powers of persuasion and enormous responsibilities. They can influence the political climate or impact social policy. Issues of ethics, advocacy and diversity are at the forefront of an editorial boards’ opinion development.

If you’ve ever wondered how to contact the editorial board of the San Antonio Express-News or been curious about the process they go through to develop their positions, you won’t want to miss the September 13th PRSA luncheon.

San Antonio Express-News Editorial Page Editor O. Ricardo Pimentel has been in the newspaper business for over 40 years, first as a U.S. Navy journalist, serving on Guam, Hawaii and Antarctica. Later, he held various reporting or editing positions in San Bernardino, Fresno, San Diego and Sacramento and was a Washington D.C. correspondent for McClatchy Newspapers, covering Congress, the U.S. Supreme Court and federal agencies.

Pimentel joined the San Antonio Express-News as a metro columnist in 2011. Currently, he coordinates the daily and Sunday editorial and commentary pages, sits on the newspaper’s editorial board, coordinates a Sunday commentary section, writes editorials and columns on public policy.

Pimentel will share his newspaper insights, talk about the editorial board process and answer questions from the audience.  Please join us on Thurs. Sept. 13thNOTE: The luncheon will start promptly at 11:30 as we will recognize membership milestones of some of our members.
