Laura Garcia
Laura is Managing Editor of the San Antonio Report, a nonprofit newsroom in collaboration with Texas Public Radio. She serves as president of the San Antonio Association of Hispanic Journalists and is on the national board of directors for the Society of Professional Journalists. Garcia previously was the evening news editor at The Texas Tribune and before was an award-winning reporter covering the business of health care at the San Antonio Express-News. She graduated from Texas State University and San Antonio College.

Priscilla Aguirre
Priscilla is the Weekend Editor at MySA, where she leads daily coverage, manages reporters and freelancers, and makes editorial decisions across breaking news, Texas culture and audience-focused journalism. During her time at MySA, she has written and edited coverage spanning news, entertainment, outdoors, wildlife, history and emerging Texas trends. Aguirre also serves as Vice President of Programming for the Society of Professional Journalists–San Antonio Pro Chapter, where she helps lead professional development, journalism education and community programming. She is also a co-leader of the San Antonio Express-News Diversity and Inclusion Committee, helping develop initiatives to create a more inclusive newsroom.

A graduate of the University of the Incarnate Word, Aguirre previously worked as sports editor for the Seguin Gazette. She is passionate about newsroom ethics, credibility, audience trust and helping journalists navigate the changing media landscape.

Jose Arredondo
Born and raised on the city’s West Side, Arredondo has a connection with the community that very few have. Jose was an intern for Spectrum News from Fall 2016 through the end of Spring 2017. Prior to landing with Spectrum News, Arredondo was a writer at the San Antonio Express-News where he covered high school sports and hyper-local community stories.

Arredondo grew up in one of the most economically disadvantaged zip codes in Texas, 78207. His upbringing drives his storytelling to give marginalized communities a voice to tell their extraordinary stories. While in college, he wrote and photographed for The Ranger newspaper at San Antonio College and The Mesquite newspaper at Texas A&M University-San Antonio. Jose won multiple 1st-place awards from the Society of Professional Journalists and the Texas Intercollegiate Press Association.
