Not Playing Around: Games and Gamification in Communications Webinar
The first brownbag webinar of 2014, Not Playing Around: Games and Gamification in Communications, will be held on Wednesday February 12 from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. at the San Antonio Area Foundation in their beautiful new meeting space at the Pearl Brewery, 303 Pearl Parkway, Suite 114. Parking is plentiful and free. Bring your lunch or buy a “to go” lunch at one of the many restaurants at the Pearl.
About the topic: Game dynamics can create deeper levels of stakeholder engagement and produce outcomes unlike anything you’ve seen before. Understanding the principles of gaming, and the reasons people devote so much time to playing them, can open a world of possibilities beyond these most fundamental applications of game-play to communication efforts.
You will:
• Discover the elements of games and gamification that compel people to play, and how to apply those principles to public relations efforts.
• Learn how social participation and alternate reality games can help overcome big communication dilemmas.
• See why Facebook may be the best platform for a casual game that delivers a difficult message.
• Learn how to make sure your gamification efforts don’t backfire.
Presenter: Shel Holtz, ABC, principal, Holtz Communications + Technology. Shel is also the co-host of For Immediate Release, the first and longest-running public relations-focused podcast.
Other webinars are scheduled for May 14, August 13, and November 12. Each brownbag event will include a webinar presentation that is selected specifically for San Antonio based on the preferences that members expressed in the survey that was conducted in November, 2013. The webinars include time for discussion and networking.
